F2P - Revenue

Buy to play Vs Free to Play
Both methods of income have pros and cons, and can both be quite profitable depending on the type of game and its platforms. In regards to Heroes of Dire, the platforms are both mobile and PC. The majority of mobile players, play free-2-play games and make purchases in-game. The majority of PC players like to purchase a game and be done with - and feel that games that are free-2-play, are usually pay-2-win. So your current target audience is both mobile and PC, but need to compromise between both types of players. This is a very small list of some pros and cons, as this is not the main focus of the post. But in my opinion, Free-2-Play is the best route for this game.
Buy to play
+ Attracts PC Players
+ You will have less "Pay2win" reviews
+ Any player that decides to try the game, you will profit.
- Mobile players will probably stick to their other F2P games
- Players will definitely check reviews before buying, meaning, negative reviews will affect sales.
- Will usually have a smaller player base, affecting a decline in the economy over time.
- Anyone who doesn't like the game will most likely review, considering they already made a purchase.
Free to play
+ Attracts Mobile players
+ Players will be able to try the game without worrying about what others have to say.
+ Will usually have a bigger player base, sustaining the economy over time.
+ Majority of players who don't like the game will just move on without reviewing.
- Most players who try the game most likely will not make a purchase.
- You will have more "Pay2Win" negative reviews and troll reviews.
Renewable Revenue
Most games have some sort of renewable revenue plan which is much more complex than just selling silver and having everyone purchase unlocks. I feel that in the case of Dire, there is nothing attracting the player to make any purchases. In the back of my head, I know I can purchase silver, but when seeing unlocks in the game, that does not come to mind. My mind thinks that's going to take a lot of grinding to unlock. And honestly, just adding vanity items will not be a renewable resource. Once I purchase them, use them on my favorite fighters... I'm done. The same can be said about silver unlocks. So I would suggest having a subscription plan, that active players can purchase. It gives the player some unlocks, and a small boost to this very grindy game.

Starter Packs
Most games have some sort of starter packs. Starter packs are great because they give you the same "buy to play" revenue effect and help gets the player started. Additionally, if you make starter packs DLC on steam, you can get into Steam Sales which is free advertising, and receive sale boosts. These packs should not give a player an advantage in the mid/end game, but only a boost at the beginning. These are great revenue boosters.
*Note on each starter pack that unlocks and fighters can be acquired by playing the game (No purchase necessary)
*Only one of each type of starter pack can be claimed per account.

Reception
Some players may think this is pay-2-win. But really, it's not anymore pay-2-win than what is in the game now. Right now I could purchase 3.1 million silvers in the silver store, unlock everything, buy 100's of fighters until I get what I want, purchase every DM auction, and be way ahead of what the packages have to offer. But, most people won't buy silver - or even know what they can buy with silver, but they will purchase things that they can visually see will help them along. Especially if they are new to a game they are excited about and want a great start.

I like this idea. We'll discuss it and similar options today.
